I was one of the Technical Artists on Icebound. My role was to create shaders as well as optimising the map to ensure a locked 60 fps on base Xbox One and Xbox One X.
This map was one of our most challenging maps to date, due to the breakable ice in the centre of the map. The ice took a large portion of our draw call, vertex shader and fragment shader budgets. Because of this, I had to create optimised materials with reduced blends, that would fade out over distance. This map also heavily relied on HLOD's (Hierarchical Level of Detail) to reduce draw calls to support the ice.
